Is It Any Wonder?

Notes From Rookies

“I,
I always thought that I knew
I’d always have the right to
Be living in the kingdom of the good and truth

It’s on but now I think how I was wrong
And you were laughing along
And now I look a fool to thinking you were wrong”

This song revolves around the band’s feelings on Britain’s decision to join the Iraq War but for me it’s more about fighting for the things people forced to be important when it’s not even essential.

“My sight
Is it any wonder I’m tired
Is it any wonder that I feel uptight
Is it any wonder I don’t know what’s right”

The duality of morals they told you to choose while they don’t even bother to do the right thing.

“Sometimes
It’s hard to know where I stand
It’s hard to know where I am
Well maybe it’s a puzzle I don’t understand
But sometimes
I get the feeling that I’m
Stranded in the wrong time
Where love is just a lyric in a tail-goes-round”

You fought so hard to maintain a faux authority based on other’s moral compass it drains you, it confuses you, it agitates you. Because you no longer know where you are and what’s the original purpose for all this. Your soul longs for purity but all you got are tainted emotions masked in unrealistic positivity that grows toxic.

“All these days
After all the misery made
Is it any wonder that I feel afraid
Is…”

The song is more about questioning everything i did that feels wrong and how i can fix them.
